Adult Ballet Studio
For those who always wanted to, but never did and for those who did and would like to dance again!
Try – or perhaps try again! Join us for our Adult Ballet Classes – for the love of dance!
We offer Open Classes, DASA Major syllabi and Beginner’s Workshops – something for everyone! There are morning and evening classes to easily fit into your weekly routine. We recommend that all new students first attend a Ballet Foundation Workshop to get a handle on the basics of Ballet technique, vocabulary and steps.
About the Studio
Looking for a sign to do something for YOU? This is your sign!
Ballet is not only for girlies in school or professional dancers who have made a career out of ballet. Ballet is for the working mom, the career woman, the full-time mom, the university student or the young working professional who is looking for:
- 🩰 an escape from stress
- 🩰 an outlet
- 🩰 some me-time
- 🩰 a different way to move your body than hitting the gym
- 🩰 or a community of like-minded women
Adult Ballet Benefits:
Improves flexibility & posture
Ballet requires a lot of stretching and movement, which helps to increase flexibility and improve posture. This can help prevent injuries and reduce pain in the back and joints.
Enhances physical & mental well-being
Helps to boost physical and mental health. It can increase cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and tone, and promotes relaxation and mindfulness.
Develops coordination & balance
Ballet requires a great deal of coordination and balance, which can improve over time with regular practice. This can help to prevent falls and improve overall body control.
Provides a creative outlet
This artistic expression is a great way to express yourself creatively. Whether you’re performing or simply enjoying the movements, ballet is fulfilling and lots of fun!
Fosters a sense of community
Adult ballet classes provide an opportunity to meet like-minded people who share a passion for dance, providing a supportive and encouraging environment to learn and grow as a dancer.
Hi! I’m Debbie!
My name is Debbie Groenewald and I was one of those ladies who danced many years ago and stopped at 18. I always felt something was missing! At age 31 I returned to the ballet studio and made a comeback. I never expected to be teaching my own students but believed that if I had the desire to dance, there were others.
I qualified as a DASA (Dance Academy of South Africa) teacher in 2012 – top of my class and the oldest. This was also the year that Les Danseuses was born.
Apart from my passion for ballet, I am a wife and a mother to 2 daughters.
Beginner Workshops
Ballet Foundation Workshops run as a 15-week course. These workshops are aimed at Beginners or students who might like to brush up on Ballet Basics. The syllabus will cover everything from ballet posture and turnout to basic pirouette technique.
For Beginners, once you have completed this course, you will be suitably equipped to join any of the classes on the timetable and watch your ballet training take off in leaps and bounds!
You will receive a manual for easy reference and to practice on your own, a USB with extra classes and a Les Danseuses gift.
Your ballet investment: R2 160 (can be paid in 1, 2 or 3 instalments).
